registered Foreign Geologist is a person registered under section 22(2) of the Geologist Act 2008 [Act 689]. 

According to section 26(1) and 27(1), Foreign Geologist who is registered with the Board may:

  • practise, carry on business or take up employment as a geologist;
  • be entitled to recover in any court any fee, charge, remuneration or any other form of consideration for any geological services rendered;
  • use the stamp as may be determined by the Board; or
  • shall be entitled to prepare and submit to any person or authority in Malaysia geological reports or studies relating to geological services in any of the fields of geology specified in the Second Schedule of the Act.

PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION

To become a registered Foreign Geologist, one must:

  • Satisfies the Board that :-
    • he/she possessesthenecessaryqualificationsthatarerecognized for the practice of geology as a professional geologist in the country where he normally practices; and
    • he/she possesses the necessary expertise;
  • Apply to the Board using application form, Form E(#link) along with:-
    • Proof of payment for processing fee, RM50.00; and
    • The certified copy of supporting documents as listed in Form E.

Only complete application with all the supporting documentation will be processed and submitted to the Board for approval.

Every application for registration shall be decided upon by the Board within ninety days from the date of receipt of such application.
