INTRODUCTION
It is mandatory for university graduate to register as Graduate Geologist if he/she wants to take up employment as a geologist. This is in accordance with section 24 which specified that “a registered graduate geologist may, take up employment as a geologist”. Aregistered Graduate Geologistalso shall be entitled to describe himself or hold himself out as a “geologist”.
Section 20(1) defines the qualification for registration as a Graduate Geologist with the Board of Geologists. A person who holds the qualifications approved by the Board shall be entitled on application to be registered as a registered Graduate Geologist.Only a citizen or a permanent resident of Malaysia may qualify for registration as a registered graduate geologist as specified in section 20(4).
PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION
To become a registered Graduate Geologist, one must:
- Holds the qualifications approved by the Board;
- Apply to the Board using application form, BorangA#link along with:-
- Proof of payment for processing fee, RM50.00; and
- The certified copy of supporting documents as listed in BorangA.
Only complete application with all the supporting documentation will be processed and submitted to the Board for approval.
Every application for registration shall be decided upon by the Board within ninety days from the date of receipt of such application.
